In May 2025, the power system projects for two Dutch-flagged 166m stone dumpers, funded by Dutch ship owner CSL OWL SRI and constructed by Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering Co., Ltd., were fully activated, marking the official startup of the design and production preparation phases. The vessels are classified by BV, with the first ship scheduled for delivery in August 2026 and the second in November 2026. These stone dumpers are primarily designed to efficiently and economically deposit sand, stones, and other granular materials onto lake or seabed, operating in waters up to 100 meters deep.
CSL OWL SRI, the ship owner, is an independent marine contractor specializing in subsea stone-dumping installation services. It is a joint venture between Canada's CSL Group Inc., one of the world's largest owners and operators of self-unloading vessels and a globally renowned dry bulk shipping service provider with a long-standing history, and the Netherlands' Offshore Wind Logistics (OWL), a highly reputable company in the offshore wind logistics sector, known for its exceptional top-tier logistics solutions.
This series of stone dumpers measure 166.80 meters in length and 40 meters in width, with a cargo capacity of 17,500 metric tons and accommodation for up to 45 personnel. Equipped with Dynamic Positioning (DP2) capabilities, the vessels can operate using marine gas oil (MGO) and methanol, offering a pathway for zero-emission operations. The integrated power system features CSSC SETH’s S-DE propulsion system, which includes four 2,880 kW generator sets, a 690V AC switchboard, two 3,000 kW main propulsion motors, and two 3,000 kW bow thruster motors, delivering a total propulsion power of 12 MW. CSSC SETH is supplying the electric propulsion and power distribution systems, with the variable frequency control system utilizing the company's proprietary technology.
In 2025, CSSC SETH has secured orders for 91 vessels overseas, nearing the milestone of 100 international ships. It has also completed the construction of a global after-sales service network, with an efficient, professional, and strategically positioned team for its international expansion. This stone dumper order marks CSSC SETH's first entry into the Dutch shipbuilding market, holding significant strategic importance. Moving forward, CSSC SETH remains committed to its rigorous and professional approach, ensuring timely, high-quality, and quantity-compliant deliveries in collaboration with Chinese shipyards to better serve international ship owners.
